I keep getting questions about whether you can work with epoxy resin yourself.

Or whether you could try something, pour something.

You can also see a lot of posts about it on Instagram, for example.

I would strongly advise not to use of epoxy resin!

Nevertheless, I would like to offer an honest opinion here, where our companies should also serve as role models.

First and foremost, we can say that it is of course also possible to work with epoxy resin yourself. Yes, of course it is possible to create your own works.

BUT FIRST OF ALL!

You must be aware that this is an aggressive chemical when it is in the liquid state. Epoxy resin consists of 2 components, both are liquid and highly toxic in this state!

In addition, toxic fumes are generated when both components are combined. As soon as that happens, the substances react with each other and the hardening process begins.

THEREFORE PLEASE!

The highest priority here is good protective equipment! His own health and that of others MUST come first here.

Never work without gloves. HOWEVER! It is crucial here which gloves are worn. It must be nitrile gloves! Why this? Because this type of glove is resistant to chemicals! We must not forget what we want to work with here.

It is best to wear 2 gloves on top of each other.

Furthermore! What we have unfortunately seen far too often! Wearing a mask is not a recommendation, BUT ABSOLUTE OBLIGATION!! Other statements are incorrect! We would like to distance ourselves from such statements!

Even those who only work SHORTLY with epoxy resin MUST wear a mask!

But this is no ordinary mask. It must be a respirator with an activated carbon filter! Because the activated carbon ensures that the chemical vapors are filtered out.

We do not smell these vapors at all or only very slightly. But they are there and arise EVERY TIME!

Furthermore, protective goggles are required! Ideally, sealed goggles! Because the vapors mentioned are also absorbed through the eyes. This can lead to severe irritation and even swelling!

If you want to be on the safe side, change your clothes after pouring epoxy resin. Because our textiles absorb these chemical vapors and release them into the body for a while.

If you take these points seriously and pay attention to them, you can start pouring.

A well-ventilated room is also recommended.

If you are of the opinion that a well-ventilated room is sufficient, you are unfortunately extremely wrong! Sooner or later, he is putting his health at risk!

If something is poured, toxic chemical fumes will continue to pour out! A well-ventilated room is of no use either. As the vapors move and reach you in varying amounts.

Only when your work has hardened will no further chemical vapors flow out. Since the chemical process of the two components is complete. In the hard state, it is also harmless to health.

Our company is concerned with presenting the manufacturing process clearly! The health risk there is extremely high.

WE appeal to EVERYONE who would like to work with epoxy resin to observe the following points and to take them seriously!

- Nitrile gloves (ideally put on 2 at a time)

- Respirator with activated carbon filter

- Tight safety glasses

- Change of clothes after work

- Well ventilated room

This means that nothing stands in the way of working with epoxy resin. Please think of your health first! Put this priority over everything else when riding with epoxy resin.

For example, who does it for show purposes on Instagram. But then he should also invest in a microphone that can be worn under the mask. Because the statement "You would not understand you with a mask" is, with all due respect, stupid and ridiculous!
